False Meditation and Signs as a Recovery Process: Beware!

Matthew 16:1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. 2  He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. (KJV)

Christians should not look for signs; but they should realize the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, live in righteousness, and look for relief by his promised redemption and coming again. Even as Jonah came back to life from being in the whale's belly, Jesus arose and came back to life from the grave. Some prophetic events must take place before his coming again.

The Pharisees and the Sadducees did not trust the Scriptures and look unto God through faith and prayer. They had their own way of doing things—ways that brought about their destruction. Similarly we have people and teachers today who attempt a style of life or recovery process in ways that leave God out (I Samuel 15:23), ways that disobey God's direction. One such way is looking for signs about making decisions, such as depending on the which side of a coin turns up. Even this type is sinful. Don't depend on chance at all; depend on faith and prayer. Even worse, some choose divination as their method. It is a lie and abhorred by God (Ezekiel 21:21). A man cannot sin and have the peace of God and true happiness.

Christians may learn how to overcome one thing but they still may have a lot to learn in life. Beware of people being beside themselves: Immaturity and ignorance.

People who have suffered substance abuse and addiction problems have lost something that they once accepted—their training values pertaining to moderation or abstinence. At one time they did not have the addiction. It took some deterioration of their personality to become addicted. However severe or mild their addiction, it caused them a problem and they noticed it.

This personality deterioration recognition may have led to a recovery process. Humans, if they get off course, do not have to stay in the dumps or a state of deterioration; they can restore themselves. We have a guideline from before we were born. The guideline is the Holy Bible.

PROPER INSTRUCTION

More details...

Even though God has related to people through spoken (the written word--Bible) and natural (Romans 1) revelation of what is right and wrong, humans have a tendancy to ignore obedience to the Creator (the Lord Jesus Christ--Ephesians 3:9). When this happens, sin occurs. And sin brings forth death. It brings harm to everyone. In order for a person to restore himself when a sin occurs (such as substance abuse) he must confess it to God (I John 1:9).

DEITY OF CHRIST: JESUS IS GOD

God will not leave anyone to self-deterioration who looks and calls unto Him for help. He is forgiving and merciful. He brings true restoration, peace and happiness. The Scriptures show us the proper way to think happily also:

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Substitue the word “Godly love” for “charity” in these beautiful, seventeenth century style (KJV) verses:

I Cor. 13:4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.”

Rachel, the Christian who overcame tarot cards in the video above has some good ideas on how to make a good decision for God implementing what she learns from the Bible. Try it yourself!
