William Sanford LaSor
(A Personal Reflection)

LaSor opened an easy way for the financially deprived to access the necessary tool (quick understanding of the language) required to study and translate Hebrew. He made the learn-the-Scripture-as-you-go study fun, and the student confident. Those who couldn't afford to pay seminary costs without borrowing and paying interest (a sin Christians should avoid) were given an opportunity to learn through self-study. His two handbooks and text of Esther (a set) are implemented through the inductive approach, in my opinion a very good way. The student can learn how to translate the Scripture from day one, it isn't necessary to learn all the rules first. It actually took me about a month if I remember correctly to learn the principles of translating and understanding the first verse, but after that growth was consistent and evident. Many thanks to the now deceased, beloved, great professor for remembering the poor and untaught, and making his contribution to the study of Hebrew.
