I Corinthians 7

⁵ Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. ¹

Deprivation of sex is a tool of the enemy, except for times of prayer. The word “fasting” is not in all Greek texts. It can be inferred that Satan can tempt a couple if they do not have sex with one another over a period of time. So, a time of delay through mutual consent may be established to prevent unnecessary lust that the devil would like to arouse.
