COSMOLOGY: THERE WAS NO MATTER
(Matter did not exist!)

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” (Psalm: 90:2)

Before the beginning (Gn. 1:1) there was no matter as we know today. God had existed from eternity but there was no matter to be formed into the heavens and the earth. So God created the matter that we see today. “Berayshit” translates “In a beginning”. Specifically to the first three words, ex nihilo creation-doctrine cannot theoretically exclude linguistic speculation of another or other beginnings, but it does give us a present and spiritually obvious (Rom. 1:19, 20), practical meaning concerning physics: time, matter and light according to Heb. 11:3.

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” (Heb. 11:3)

Without space and time, matter cannot exist. Matter and its properties were created, and not from pre-existent matter. There was no such thing.

Note: Even though “Berayshit” is considered by some well known scholars due to its orthographic form a construct and would be translated differently, nevertheless, according to the Septuagint (before the time of Christ and New Testament) it is orthographed and translated as a noun with a preposition, “In a beginning”.
