Theological issues: Christians' job is to save lives, not destroy them. If Christians maintain moral and ethical self-control, they can preserve cleanliness of the land.
Political and legal issues: If people are not punished for their crimes, the land will become filthy and unclean. So, criminals such as murderers, thieves and fornicators (or adulterers) must be kept under control through a legal system or else people could do as they wished without any legal, social intervention. However, the death penalty should not be instituted in our day. A better judgment would be to give a fornicator life imprisonment and take his wealth to recompense financial damages to all victims (those who have suffered home breakage and other ruinous disorientation). But a criminal should never be allowed just to go free without any penalty! Nevertheless, we live in the day of apostasy and we have a government that promotes immorality, not penalizes for it, so we must make our own communities.
Graciousness of the New Covenant: No death penalty for fornication; however, the Christian was expected to divorce (annul the relationship) an unclean woman and keep the land undefiled. Sadly, today, many so-called Christian organizations promote fornication and defile the land. A monstrous, popular heretic organization, Focus on the Family, refers to polygamy and fornication as “blended” marriage. Recently, they complimented treacherous, John MacArthur and promoted his lawless, remarriage opinion.
While our world has fallen into devastating sins of fornication and adultery, Mr. MacArthur seems to have followed his blind peers with a smile. May the Lord rebuke him.

Discern how I reproved Pat Robertson, "I would like you to understand a very important point. On page 167 and 168 you stated that 'if an unbelieving spouse leaves a believer, the believer is not bound to the marriage relationship, but is free to remarry.5' That is a falsehood! It simply is not true. What such a situation does induce is the freedom for the believer to 'remain unmarried' mene'tow a'gamos (I Cor 7:11, 15).”
The Overcomer Ministry has a leader who has had many relationships with women and lives in open fornication now. These erring groups and individuals pretend to be our religious leaders while they ignore God's holy laws and act like their sin is no more worthy of penalty than eating an ice cream cone.
