I Corinthians 7 40 But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God. 1 As in verse 1, and throughout the chapter, Paul continues to uplift being single above marriage. Paul was not speaking from a humanistic, fashionable or worldly view, he thought he knew what God thought about the subject. We live in a day of lust and heresy wherein many relationships do not last long, and children grow up without two parents. A society needs men and women who will lead and be as the Apostle Paul suggested, and then, those who marry will have single examples to look unto. A society built upon selflessness and chastity will prevent the social problems that we see today: drugs, murder, fornication, incest, theft, factions, ungratefulness and lawlessnesses of different types. Fornication and adultery used to be considered crimes that deserved penalization. An immigrant adulterer could not become a citizen in early America. The Roman Catholic system has not worked by forbidding its priests marriage. Religious hierarchy must allow marriage to those who have the gift, and it should honor those who live as singles for Christ's sake.
