CHASTITY
The bed is undefiled in marriage (Heb.13.4). God designed sexual intercourse for the reproduction process--it is honorable in marriage. Every child that comes into this world is a spark of God: in the image of the creator.
Although the Apostle Paul recommended celibacy (I Cor. 7:7) as an exception and Jesus Christ mentioned the eunuch, it is God's will that mankind be productive (not sterile). The urge for sex can be bridled with prayer and fasting of mates. Nevertheless, having sex and resulting children is a blessed activity in holy matrimony.
God will honor a loyal marital relationship wherein neither mate becomes stained with fornication. The children will have reason to appreciate their parent's faithfulness.
Sexual intercourse outside of holy matrimony is sinful: whether it manifests itself in adultery, wastefulness (disrespect of God's will for reproduction such as that of Onan), or fornication. Selfish logic and disobeying God has consequences. An instance of wastefulness (contraception) in marriage occurred when Onan secreted upon the ground, rather than making a complete effort to be sexually fruitful with his wife. He despised the levirate custom and knew the prospective child would belong to his brother (v. 9) rather than himself–this appeared wicked before the Lord; God killed him (Gen. 38.9). Modern, pills and condoms are instruments of prevention of life also, many times for the promotion of immorality.
