TWO TYPES OF PURPOSEFUL SIN OCCUR: THROUGH COGNIZANCE OR DENIAL
INHERENT SIN
Mankind is born with a natural tendency toward depravity. We are born in sin. Our bodies have been affected by the fall of Eve and Adam. Only the blood of Jesus the Christ can fully atone for our spiritual deficiency. By grace through faith we are saved, not of ourselves. However, we may learn good things from the time we were a baby, which will make us much more pleasant humans.
COGNIZANT SIN
As a man grows from his youth toward an age of understanding, he learns what is good and bad. Sometimes, people being tempted know it is not good to do something such as steal, kill, lie, or commit fornication, and many other things of the flesh, but they commit that sin. That commission of sin falls under the cognizance category because it is recognizable beforehand. Such sinners can be reproved or convicted, and repent. Sometimes it may take some encouragement and training. Once this type of sin is discontinued, it doesn't continue to exist as a manifestation of carnality.
King David, a man dearly loved by God, a man after His own heart, was born in sin as we are. However, he feared and loved the Lord, and learned the things of God. He accomplished many great goals and deeds. Nevertheless, he was tempted as man can be, and committed a great, cognizant sin. He committed premeditated manslaughter and a personal war crime during his capacity as a major official of the army. He had the husband (Uriah) of an attractive woman (Bathsheba) put in the line of fire in Israel's military purposely so he could have her for his wife.
Nevertheless, David was convicted of his sin and repented (Psalm 51). Since Bathsheba only had marital cognizance of one living husband, David, she nor he no longer continued in the initial adulterous form of carnality, and was re-established to be blessed by God.
SIN DENIAL
There is another type of sin though. It is the type of sin that occurs through denial of its sinful existence. One such example would be Kenneth Copeland and his denial that his remarriage with Gloria is sinful. Both sinners actually know their relationship is not acceptable to God, or at least have been mentally exposed to information condemning it, the Bible (Galatians 5) for instance; however, they don't have the conviction to repent and stop (discontinue) their sin. Therefore, their sin is a continuous manifestation of carnality. Have no association with such people.
YOU SHALL KNOW THEM BY THEIR WORKS
You can decipher the personality of a person by the things they do, and the things they don't. You can tell very much about them by their works.
