According to II Thes. 2:1-3 the apostasy will come first, and the man of sin will be revealed (made known) before the day of Christ is at hand. Today's irreverence to God in respect to sexual cleanliness is a sign of the times. We should not only be able to recognize the evil era that we are living in, but we should also be prepared to overcome the evil influences that are around us. We can do this by following the Lord Jesus Christ. Enclosed is my sermon "Sexual Immorality and the Brink of Apostasy."

Sexual Immorality and the Brink of Apostasy
When you hear the term "leaders of tomorrow," doesn't that tend to remind you of excellence? Ideas and decision making are the essence of leadership. It is the quality of the ideas that give leadership its direction--the precious quality of morality.
If you look on some college bulletin boards and see what kind of advertisements, promotions, instructional and encouragemental materials are posted, you may find that quite a bit has to do with human sexual behavior in some aspect or respect. You may find information posted encouraging the use of condoms, dry sex, homosexual condonation, and who knows what?
With educational facilities proliferating such shameful and disobedient acts in contradiction to God's written word, what kind of effect does this have on students? "Do not be mislead: Bad company corrupts good habits." When an institution blatantly mocks the instruction of God, it has a harmful effect on students and also the general public.
On the other hand, you may find a posted invitation to a Christian meeting. When Lot dealt with the people in Sodom, he did not have an overwhelming influence over the "leaders" of his time. As a matter of fact, they were not satisfied with Lot's moral values. Lot offered them his chaste daughters, but they desired his friends--the angels (men).
A Christian can not condone a sin and not be affected by it, and he can not serve two masters. If a Christian does not condone the sins of others, then he is vexed by their wicked deeds. So what I am getting at is this--how many college students are separated from the wicked deeds, and do not condone the awful and insidious sexual propaganda? Probably few.
A certain university instituted a rule to the effect an employee asking a student for a date during working hours should be grounds for discretionary action, but the same institution which promotes social status discriminatory laws condones and promotes contra-pious activity such as homosexuality, and restrictive sexual intercourse by the use of condoms and learned techniques, and also provides co-ed dorming. What a sin! "But if you have respect of persons, you work sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. For whosoever will keep the whole law, but stumble in one area, he has become guilty of all." (James 2:9, 10)
On the other hand, there are Christian colleges which do not advertise such propaganda. However, even though these institutions teach chastity and cleanliness to some degree, and condemn homosexuality; many either condone legalized adulteries in some instances, or are ignorant and unestablished as to holy marital laws. The Apostle Paul said, "let a man have his own wife [not someone else's wife]," and "every woman her own husband [not someone else's husband]." (I Cor. 7:2)
Economics deals with subjects such as the standard of living in terms of monetary values. Similarly, society can be viewed and analyzed in religious and spiritual terms according to Biblical values: When a nation obeys and adheres to God's word, prosperity, righteousness and honor follow. But when the people of a nation disrespect God's commandments, lawlessness abounds: See Jude, v. 18.
According to II Thes. 2:1-3 the apostasy will come first, and the man of sin will be revealed (made known) before the day of Christ is at hand. "And then ... " (v. 8) implies that the lawless one will have already been in position to make his showing after lawlessness extends itself without restraint (v. 7), so as the Lord Jesus will at the appearing of His advent-- {par-oo-see'-ah} "coming," this same word in the Greek is used in v. 1, by the spirit of his mouth consume the son of perdition, and the Lord Jesus will annul the wicked impostor. So in order for lawlessness to culminate in such an abominable manner, it can not happen unless the apostasy comes first (v. 3). But, we Christians still have time to reach for Christ throughout the world. I believe millions of people may be saved before the terrible time of lawlessness comes upon this earth, but we must stand "for"--not "away from," nor to abandon, which is what "apostasy" denotes--Christ and his commandments.
Nominal Christianity is not a sufficient force to fight off the things that are exalted against God--it takes the sword of the spirit, the word of God. The Christian's battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places. The battle is against ideas other than God's ideas. These ideas occur in government, in the church, in educational institutions, in the home, wherever there is a source of authority.
A person must look unto the "Way," the Holy Scripture, in order to be furnished adequately to be able to do good works. Without the study of the Bible, there is not sufficient knowledge to stand up against the wiles of the devil. Satan has men blinded from all walks of life who promote ideas contrary to God's word through every philosophical channel.
A husband is the head of a marriage, the wife being subject to him. If the wife is loyal, faithful, holy, and chaste, she is glorious and health to his bones. But, on the other hand, if she is treacherous and promiscuous, leaving her glorious position for dishonor and corruption--the husband will not desire her anymore; he would have a justifiable reason to put her away. Can God honor a nation which rejects his commandments? The answer is NO. He will punish such a nation.
If churches reject the moral commandments pertaining to marriage and sex, how far are they from denying Jesus Christ, the bridegroom of the church?
Christians need to humble themselves before God and pray. We need to communicate with our heavenly father. He will not leave us, nor forsake us. If God be for us, who can be against us? "Now unto the one who is able to guard them from stumbling, and to stand them blameless with exultation before his glory, to the only wise God our saviour, be glory and greatness, might and authority, both now and unto all the ages. Amen" (Jude, v. 25).
