Gn. 15:11 “And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.” [KJ V]

A particular Greek manuscript says “sat together with them”. A particular Hebrew manuscript says generally “drove them away”. An interesting thought concerning the translation from the Hebrew to Greek is that the Hebrew word for sat is yaw-shav[b] and the form for the word for blew, drove away is yaw-shayv[b]: derived from naw-shav[b]. The words are very similar, especially without nikkud (points). However, interpreting these words as such seems to have caused a blatant difference in translation. Nevertheless, even though there are variances in translations among different languages at times, both the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts are very important. Both are very enlightening and generally agree with each other. The Hebrew is generally thought of as the authoritative manuscript source for the Old Testament and the Greek for the New Testament. Nevertheless, it may be necessary to consider the Greek also because of the age of the transcript in cases of discrepancy.

Whatever the situation with the different translations, back to focusing on the verse, Abraham did protect the carcases. He knew God had commanded him to make a sacrifice and that the offering was not complete. He was obligated to see the sacrifice was complete. When the birds of prey came down and threatened the sacrifice, Abraham was not idle so as to let them destroy it. See verse 17.

We ministers (the whole body of Christ) of God today have an obligation as Abraham to keep and protect our duties (especially keeping God's people pure—one another) today. The New Testament says “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1) See verses 2-15 also. “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” (I Peter 2:5)

One particular aspect of life that I see we Christians must be very careful to protect is sexual cleanliness: ^“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul”. (1 Peter 2:9) There are so-called Christians and deceivers that would do harm to our offering to God if we did not acknowledge their error and stand against them. There are men and women that would try to ruin your life as the birds of prey that attempted and hindered Abraham's offering. They do not live a spiritual life, but a carnal life. They divorce and remarry, which is against the commandment of God. Then, they even come and teach you that it is alright to be broken and live a carnal life. Even though it is a fiasco, they tell you it is success. What a lie!

Yes, folks, we have an on-going task ahead of us. We must warn and exhort the brethren and keep them pure until we meet the Lord. We must never just allow sin (sexual lust and unjustified, legalized marriage) to overcome us. We must never condone sin. We must expose it. Sure, many of us may make tragic mistakes. We may be broken. But we must always repent of our sin and fulfill our obligations so as to secure our fellowship with the Lord and not be destroyed by Satan and his evil ministers. Hypothesis: I cannot attest to Judy's actual circumstances (see the video above) because she did not go into detail concerning female virginity and the law (Dt. 22). However, if her attested illegitmate husband formerly had sex with a female virgin, then generally, he would have been obligated to her. If he had no sex with any virgins or chaste widows, then he was not really formerly married. Now let's look at the picture from Judy's side. If she had lost her virginity to a former man other than her attested illegitimate man, she could not have really belonged to her attested illegitimate man as a wife because female chastity is required to establish marriage. Hopefully, this little explanation will clarify the subject of Torah-approved marriage further in case her meaning of “covenant marriage” doesn't comply with the Torah.

Note concerning the law: Chastity is a basis for marriage. A defiled woman cannot be restored to a former husband because of uncleanness (Dt. 24) regardless of the cause. Keep marriage pure in love and prevent adultery or uncleanness. It is actually a community obligation; we must not defile the land if we expect God to bless it!

Dt. 24 is very relevant.

Let us never allow youth be encouraged to accept impurity. Our children must be taught the precept of female chastity and purity so they will keep themselves from defilement.

Admitted failing without repentance due to the deception of the sinful may not be as prolific and harmful as those erring preachers who claim they are correct and mislead the simple. At least people know the one that admits his fault has to be wayward!
