Pharmakeia: Drug Stores Can't Replace God's Peace
The Greek word pharmakeia is used in Galatians 5:20. The modern word pharmacy is derived from it. People look for relief in ways other than God's direction, peace and healing. One alternative is the use of drugs. Even public schools offer anti-Christian and deceptive, pharmaceutical substitutes. Of course, this only brings more dissatisfaction in the long run because it only deals with the symptom of the problem and induces more severe ones.
Many homes have been destroyed through a parent's neglect and unlearnedness. The children followed the same steps as the parent. Instead of seeking God and the Bible for direction, they have went to a psychologist, and/or became introduced to an addictive drug. What a catastrophe!
The power of Jesus is stronger than any addiction. No Christian should remain addicted if he or she has been entrapped or seduced into an ungodly subculture. As a matter in fact, anyone that continues in any kind of sin should self-examine himself or herself as to whether he or she really has a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
