Sobriety Versus Temporary Stability
Temperance is acceptable. Some addicts choose to wean off a drug rather than go cold turkey. All people are different, unique individuals. People do things in different ways than others. I can't choose for someone else how to go about achieving sobriety. However, I do believe people can become as they were when they were a child. A child does not need a fix. The reason a drug addict thinks he needs a fix is because he has become addicted and is chemically dependent. A child is not in the physical or psychological, chemical dependent state, and hence, needs nothing. That's the way ex-addicts become. People who have been delivered by God at Teen Challenge can tell you this. They no longer have cravings. I personally think everyone should give themselves their best opportunity in life, and to me that is to be completely drug free – no longer needing methadone or other chemicals to achieve an artificial but not lasting state of peace.
